The Area 23 Story

Everybody welcome. I'd like to take this opportunity to personally welcome you to our cozy little chunk of cyberspace here at Area 23 and explain a bit about what exactly we do. Truthfully, there's nothing that we exactly do. But to explain this a bit better, perhaps I should start from the beginning...

One day, yours truly and a friend by the name of Roger E. Wood were sitting around, chatting over drinks. I was discussing with him the prospects of compiling a kernel that would include support for connecting to remote sites with a fake origination IP by sending the raw TCP packets to-- well I won't bog you down with the details. After brainstorming and discussing it a bit, I came to a realization:

"With the proper resources, anything can be accomplished."

What exactly does this mean, you ask? Well, I have to admit, Rodge didn't understand what I meant by it either. But after a more thorough explanation, I presented him with a plan to create an Organization with immense technological magnitude, capable members, and the drive to create. This group of able-minded programmers, designers, reviewers, and the like would have so much capacity that they could actually create anything they desired.

Roger and I then went on to detail out what the various necessary major positions would be for the Organization to operate swiftly and efficiently. We also decided that anyone capable of programming or designing who had the proper attitude should be allowed to join the rosters of the Organization.

To make a long story short, Area 23 was formed. Of course, in the old days it was not called Area 23, but merely "The Organization", but one of our reviewers quickly decided that the name was not only too vague, but that it also imposed a sense of rigid order "nonconducive to the creative process". After a short brainstorm meeting late one night, we came up with our current name, and hopefully it emanates a type of abstract tone that will aid creative minds in doing what they do best: creating!
